1st week of PRCP was orientation week. Had a 3-days long orientation by the clinical instructors (CI) usually are the Senior staff nurses on different topics on 3 different days @ the pathology lecture theatre, the seats are damn bloody
HARD can!!! Sit until got broken skin and pressure sores! felt lke bring a swimming float n sit on it..
Day 1
1. Intro to orientation programme
2. Welcome address by Deputy director of nursing (ADN)
3. Roles and responsibilities of a final yr student
4. Admission & transfer of pts
5. Discharge planning procedures
6. Coordinate clinical pathway (CCP) on
laparoscopic cholecytectomy.. super dry topic!!!
7. Handling of pt who absconds
8. Documentation of Inpatient medication record (IMR)
9. Human resources issues (HR)
Day 2
1. Labelling n despatching of blood specimens
2. Ward routines & work processes (impatient consulation referrals, diagnostic procedures, treatment procedures, adhoc meal orders)
3. How to identify & reporting of adverse drug reactions
4. Pre & post mgmt of pts undergoing invasive procedures
Day 3
1. Medications rights & errors
2. Nursing care rpt
3. Drug calculations
Was in the ward on thursday n fri.. CI gave us orientation of the ward etc.. got nth much to do.. just float n help ard.. and my preceptor is a nice person!! can joke with her.. NO MORE BASIC for me.. must think more in depth ald!!
Roster out ald! i'm working on weekends, and no more ending work @ 9pm! End work @ 9.35pm instead! i got 2 off days every week (this week: thur n fri).. i really need to treasure and spend my off days wisely..
